Vip Snow Queen Trophy 2012

The beginning of the year in Zagreb is traditionally marked by a large sporting event – the Vip Snow Queen Trophy slalom races of the Audi FIS World Ski Championship for men and women. It will be held for the seventh time year in a row and, as in previous years, the best slalom skiers will be competing for the Snow Queen Trophy at Sljeme, in races that will take place between the 4th and the 6th of January.

The whole story about the Ski Cup in Zagreb began with the most decorated world skier: Zagreb-born Janica Kostelić; though she no longer skis professionally, this sporting event still gathers large numbers of spectators. The reason for this is the original atmosphere, unusual for skiing competitions, which is created by the audience itself – selflessly cheering on each contestant. This is why Zagreb attracts not only the best skiers in the world, but also numerous television stations, which makes this race one of the best-covered races of the World Ski Championship. As an integral part of this competition, there will also be a humanitarian race that will feature current, as well as former, top-class skiers.

More about Plan B

Plan B is one of those bars... Great atmosphere, British Ale, Sky sports, DJ's, cocktails and a choice of over 30 wines by the bottle with 6 reds and 6 whites by the glass! All of this under one, reasonably small roof. The bar is divided into two areas the bar area, with high tables and mind blowing decor and the terrace, which is completely covered by glass and heated during the winter, with sports during the day and music at night.
Illy coffee and the finest French teas, Croatian and Aussie wines, Croatian beers and British ales and a good choice of cocktails means there is something for everyone. The bar is owned by a Brit and an Aussie, who also happen to run a stag and hen company in Zagreb, so they know how to make a party. If you are visiting Zagreb for a few days, you can also find info on where to go and what to do on the info wall at the back of the bar. This one is worth a visit!
You can also book your Segway tour for the location!

Zagreb Dance Center

Zagreb Dance Center

Zagreb Dance Center, which opened its doors on October 26, 2009 is a unique cultural facility in Croatia developed purposefully for dance. Its primary function as a choreographic center is to foster and create opportunities for the development of a new generation of Zagreb and Croatian choreographic talent. The objective is to support the production and dissemination of contemporary dance works. An important part of the work focuses on the development of a space for dialogue and engagement between dance professionals and the public at large in an effort to enhance the interest and support for contemporary dance in Zagreb and Croatia.

Today, The Zagreb Dance Center is a hub for dance, located in the heart of the city, which also engages the broader public not only as spectators but as active participants by inviting them to follow creative processes, participate in a range of dance activities and to enlist as volunteers. For the youth this is an ideal space to encounter and develop unique and different skill sets and work practices.

Residencies, workshops, classes, film projections, performances, round-table discussions, networking, exhibitions, artist talks, lectures and specific dance related activities engaging the general public regardless of age are all part of the year-round programming at the Zagreb Dance Centre. Collaboration with similar venues across Europe and engaging in partnerships with the local community are geared to prompt a more dynamic relationship among Zagreb based artists and the international dance community. The Dance Point as well as the Dance Monthly publication are key sources for dance related information for events at Zagreb Dance centre, while web based information provides news from beyond. Information flow about and for dance is also an important service for the general public who can subscribe to Dance News.
The Zagreb Dance Center consists of three studios, one of which is a multifunctional studio with 140 retractable seats. The Zagreb Dance Center is best suited for rehearsals, creation and production of small and mid scale works. The center also has a meeting room, and a lobby, media room. Among ancillary spaces are three spacious change-rooms each equipped with showers. In addition to the Roof Top terrace, conducive to all sorts of activities during the Summer, the garden looking onto the Upper Town represents a quite oasis in the heart of the city bustle.
